The Spice Girls Re-Unite and Will Go on Tour

Spice GirlsThe fashion-challenged, not to mention lack of substancial talent, girl power group is back! The Spice Girls announced that they are reuniting and had agreed to get together for 11 concerts around the world in December and January.

The shows will be their first concerts since breaking up in 2001, and the first with all five of the original group since Geri “Ginger Spice” Halliwell quit to pursue a solo career in 1998.

Now Halliwell re-embraces the spotlight with her ‘girls’ Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham, Melanie “Sporty Spice” Chisholm, Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton and Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown.

The Spice Girls’ first single, “Wannabe,” was released in 1996 and topped charts in 31 countries. They went on to sell more than 55 million records. But their last album, “Forever,” released in 2000 and without Halliwell, fared poorly.

You could now call them the Spice Mums. Beckham said the tour would be designed to accommodate the band members’ seven children. And Bunton is now pregnant with her first child.

EMI said it plans to release the first Spice Girls greatest-hits album in November. The group also plans to make their first official documentary for TV broadcast.

Germany Bans Tom Cruise from Filming New Movie

Filed Under Movie News | Leave a Comment

Tom CruiseWe’re guessing that “psychiatry is Nazi science” bit stuck in the minds of German officials. Tom Cruise was barred by the country’s Defense Ministry from filming at German military sites for a new movie about a plot to kill Adolf Hitler because of his Scientology beliefs.

Defense Ministry spokesman Harald Kammerbauer said the film makers “will not be allowed to film at German military sites if Count Stauffenberg is played by Tom Cruise, who has publicly professed to being a member of the Scientology cult.”

The U.S. actor will portray Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, leader of the unsuccessful attempt to assassinate the Nazi dictator in July 1944 with a bomb hidden in a briefcase.

Stauffenberg had been deeply opposed to the Nazis’ treatment of the Jews and planted a briefcase bomb under a table near Hitler in his “Wolf’s Lair” headquarters on July 20, 1944. The bomb went off but only wounded the Fuehrer.

“In general, the Bundeswehr (German military) has a special interest in the serious and authentic portrayal of the events of July 20, 1944 and Stauffenberg’s person,” Kammerbauer said.

Are they saying Mr. Cruise is a joke?

Paris Hilton To Be Released from Jail

Filed Under Celebrity Blunders | 1 Comment

Paris Hilton mugshotDrunk driving heiress, Paris Hilton, is expected to be released from jail on Tuesday after serving her full sentence. Although her sentence was for 45 days, authorities have said all along that with time off for good behavior and because of crowded jail conditions Hilton was likely to serve only 23 days.

Paris will appear on Larry King Live for her first post-jail interview. It was first reported that NBC nabbed the first exclusive interview for $1 million. And then another report says Paris dumped NBC for ABC because they have a bigger offer.

This prompted the two networks to release separate statements denying they offered large sums of money for the interview. In fact, they said, it was Paris’ reps who were offering the possibility of snagging the exclusive scoop.

Wow, was Elliot Mintz and the Hiltons are attempting to squeeze out money from this “unfortunate” event?

And so Larry King benefitted and a spokeswoman confirmed she’ll do the whole show. And minus the bloated fee.

“Larry doesn’t pay for interviews or do ground rules,” the spokeswoman said.

Isaiah Washington To Sue ABC?

Isaiah WashingtonIsaiah Washington, apparently, isn’t done with his former bosses at ABC after he was fired from the top-rated show, Grey’s Anatomy. The actor told the Houston Chronicle that he is contemplating filing a lawsuit against the network.

I have to clear my name,” said Washington. “I’ll start from the beginning. I’m telling everything. So here’s the truth.”

Washington went on to say the ABC fired the wrong guy, accusing T.R. Knight of exploiting the controversy in order to get a salary increase and to enhance his role.

Knight, who announced soon after the initial fracas that he was gay, told talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres in January that Washington used the slur against him and that “everyone (on the set) heard” him do so.

“That’s a lie,” Washington told the Chronicle. “I used the word during a disagreement with Patrick. I apologized for that. We shook hands and went back to work.”

He also said that he requested to be released from his contract after the incident but he was told to hang on.

“I was not fired for making homophobic slurs,” Washington said. “I did everything I said I would do. … I wanted everyone to know I was remorseful.”

Hmmm…if all these are true…Knight sounds like a schemy little creature.
